Issue Position: Support for Public Education

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2014
Issues: K-12 Education

Larry Means believes in public education and is willing to fight for it. Larry knows that to grow jobs here and make our communities strong, our children and teachers must have the tools they need. Our children must be prepared to compete for jobs in a worldwide marketplace.
Our schools are horribly underfunded. Alabama has cut per-pupil spending more than most other states in the country. The legislative leadership continues to attack public education and fight against teacher pay increases, while our teachers have to purchase basic classroom supplies out of their own pockets.

Larry Means thinks the Alabama Accountability Act is damaging our public schools. He opposes any effort to take any public money and give it to private schools. Larry thinks public money should stay in our public schools. The children deserve it and Larry means will fight for it.
